A new 24MP full-frame back-illuminated stacked CMOS sensor delivers faster readout speeds for reduced rolling shutter distortion, equivalent to the mechanical shutter of EOS-1D X Mark III.

Capture what may have been missed.
The EOS R1 shoots RAW bursts of up to 40 frames per second with 0.5-second pre-continuous shooting, helping you capture the decisive moment in sharp focus even before you've pressed the button. You can capture scenes from 3 or 5 seconds before recording in video.

Track moving subjects with ultimate precision
Next-generation autofocus enables you to achieve an even higher hit rate of in-focus images in the most challenging action-shooting environments. Action Priority mode identifies actions unique to selected sports events and moves the AF point to that subject to capture the decisive moment.

Supercharged AF accuracy
For the first time on an EOS R series body, cross-type AF accurately captures subject patterns to further increase accuracy, especially in situations where subjects have many horizontal lines, small sizes, or low contrast.

More resolution at hand when needed
After shooting from JPEG or HEIF files, in-camera upscaling delivers images up to 96MP. This can be combined with in-camera cropping to deliver higher-resolution cropped images and with in-camera Neural Network Noise Reduction for images with less noise.
