Ask
the Teaboy
Q:Dear Teaboy,
I have friends and family overseas and I want to share photos of my new house/wife/baby/cat with them and even though the prints I get from you guys are fantastic, I’d quite like to be able to send them quicker than snail mail but when I email them I often get error emails back saying “Message too big” etc
Any ideas?
Regards,
Freddy Quicksnap
A:
Dear Freddy,
We know exactly what you are talking about. Emailing your photos is a good option but quite often people get upset about the large emails others send (some unfortunate people might still be on dial-up!!!) and a lot of the time they often don’t make it at all. One option is to use a photo sharing website and a very popular one (even used by our staff here) is called Flickr! (http://www.flickr.com)
Flickr allows you to upload your photos, put them into sets and share them with others! You can even submit them to groups for possible critique! Once you have joined Flickr you can ask your friends and family to join (it’s free after all and they’re not bad people, they aren’t going to spam you or try and sell you things) and then as soon as you upload something (which is really quite easy) they will be able to see them straight away and vice versa. If you would like to know more about Flickr then why not take the tour of their site: http://www.flickr.com/learn_more.gne
There are also other similar sites out there such as Photobucket (http://www.photobucket.com), Ringo (http://www.ringo.com) and PBase (http://www.pbase.com) that you also might like to check out.
Regards,
Matthew
